Safety Standards

With occupational safety issues coming to the forefront in industry around the world, more and more countries are adopting safety regulations to prevent workplace injuries and health problems.

Compressed air has the potential to cause serious injury and for this reason, its handling is safeguarded by industry standards and usage guidelines. Employers are responsible for ensuring the safety of employees by providing instruction on the proper use of compressed air, as well as providing equipment and tools that are safe to use.

Safety standards endorsed in the UK that are applicable to PCL products include:

International Standard ISO 4414:2010

(Replaces EN 983:1996, supersedes ISO 4414:1998)
Pneumatic fluid power. General rules and safety requirements for systems and their components

European Standard EN 12645:2014

(Has the status of a British Standard supersedes EN 12645:1999)
Tyre pressure measuring instruments. Devices for inspection of pressure and/or inflation / deflation of tyres for motor vehicles. Metrology, requirements and testing

International Standard ISO 6150:2018

(Supersedes ISO 6150:1988)
Pneumatic fluid power – Cylindrical quick-action couplings for maximum working pressure 10 bar, 16 bar and 25 bar – Plug connecting dimensions, specifications, application guidelines and testing. Applicable ISO B12 coupling range only.

International Standard ISO 5774:2016

(Replaces BS 6066:1981, supersedes ISO 5774:2008)
Plastic hoses. Textile-reinforced types for compressed air applications. Specification

International Standard ISO 2398:2016

(Replaces BS 5118:1980, supersedes ISO 2398:1997 & ISO 2398:2008) Rubber hose, textile-reinforced, for compressed air. Specification

International Standard ISO 4570:2002

(Identical to BS AU 50-3.2a:2002)
