Make tyre checks a two-minute habit, once a month
Why Tyre Checks matter?
Many people feel overwhelmed by vehicle maintenance - according to TyreSafe, 71% say it causes more worry than relationship issues. Yet only 46% of drivers check tyre pressures monthly, potentially leaving millions of tyres on UK roads illegal.
Tyre checks are quick and simple - here’s why they’re important:
>
No.1 Tyre Safety
Keep tyres at the correct pressure and tread depth to stay safe. Good tyres improve grip and handling - replace before tread falls below 2mm.
No.2 Reduce CO2 Emissions
Maintaining the correct tyre pressure with accurate equipment improves efficiency and lowers CO₂ emissions.
No.3 It's the law
For cars, vans, and LCVs, the minimum legal tread depth is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre and around the entire circumference. Driving below this limit can cost £2,500 per tyre plus three licence points.
No.4 Reduce Costs
Tyre inflation has a direct impact on load-bearing capacity and running costs when driving, using PCL products to maintain tyres ensures that cars, caravans and motorhomes can be loaded to the maximum limit, whilst reducing fuel consumption and extending tyre life.
Three quarters of motorway incidents are caused by failure to carry out regular tyre checks*. Checking your tyres at least once a month and before long journeys using reliable and accurate tyre gauges can help keep you safe on the road and on the right side of the law. Checking your tyres only takes a few minute following these 3 simple steps.
