What is the difference between the 60 and 100 Series?

PCL have been manufacturing the 60 Series and 100 Series for 60 years. Both series are manufactured in our state-of-the-art factory and proudly carry the ‘Made in Sheffield’ mark of origin and quality.

The 60 and 100 Series have many similarities, including the swivel feature to prevent hose kinking and a double action mechanism, making them ideal for fixed and trailing hose applications in garage, tyre shop and industrial environments. However, it is important that you identify which coupling and adaptor profile you have as the 60 Series and 100 Series do not interchange. This guide explains the difference between both ranges.

The first noticeable difference is the size. The 100 Series is much larger than the 60 Series. However if you don’t have both couplings to hand to compare, you can simply look to the edge where the pre-fix of the part number is displayed, AC4 for 60 Series and AC5 for 100 Series.

Another difference is that the 100 Series has a larger nominal bore than the 60 Series – this is the internal diameter of the hole that runs through the length of the coupling or adaptor – which allows the 100 series to offer a larger flow rate of 117 cfm @100 psi than the 60 series which offers 60 cfm @ 100 psi, this makes the 100 Series more suitable for the larger air tool applications.

Our catalogue features a handy "actual size adaptor profile" chart on page 19 which enables adaptors to be matched to the outlines of those shown on the page to help you easily find your adaptors interchange and thread size.
